U-2-Me feature integration and UX research/design

·

I performed business analysis and led the design and direction for a series of new features on the website.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

U-2-Me were opening their collaborative knowledge webpage and they required my help to launch and cultivate their brand's multi-channel experience.

At the time, there were no other knowledge sharing platforms that provided video conference along with real time file sharing. The problem though was that even though the company was pretty resourceful, I was hired at a point that the clock was ticking for an initial site release. That made the scope of the project quite challenging and made it inevitable to set some priorities for the first release. As the video feature was the one that could differentiate the company from the competition we decided to focus on this aspect. Along with it came the design of the home page and the UX evaluation and ui design of the Administration system. Furthermore I was responsible for producing an accurate user flow for the landing page, registration/login and profile editing activities.

GOALS

1To establish a brand presence

2To compete with some well respected and established knowledge sharing platforms

3To create a loyal customer base through innovative user experience for both: knowledge seekers and providers

4To establish trust and credibility

HOME PAGE

The design of the home page was adapted for new users. As the company was trying to establish a user base, the home page provided a wealth of information about what the service is and how to join. There was plan in the longer term, when there would be sufficient knowledge content to modify the page and be more content oriented.

SCHEDULING A LISTING

Through observational studies I was able to identify usability patterns that led to the decision of adapting a “Wizard” style listing creation process. During tis process knowledge providers were guided to create a meaningful listing in order to get maximum visibility in the webpage community.

ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM

For the administration system we brainstormed ideas along with the whole team for quite a long time. There were several templates that could be used but in the end we decided to use our own custom design based on the needs of the administration team. Through close collaboration with the lead developer, I was able to fine tune the complexity of the navigation and using Proto.io I was able to accurately communicate subtle but necessary interactions.
